It was a weekend of firsts for Halsteads Road Runners this weekend with various debuts over various distances being made.
Bristol and Bath Marathon
Juan De Gea and Karl Hillman travelled down to the west country for the Bristol and Bath Marathon, with both men making their debuts over the 26.2 mile marathon distance. Both men made light work of the hilly terrain to set fantastic debut times.

Great South Run
Treena Harrington and Lizzie Griffiths made their debuts wearing Halstead colours this weekend in the 10 mile Great South Run in Portsmouth. The sun shone on the trio which saw Treena set a new PB and former chairman Paul Harrington make his return after months out with an injury. Lizzie Griffiths raised an impressive £1200 for a Leukaemia charity.

Dan Smith made the transition from marathon running to ultra marathon running in Sundays Stort 30. The off road trail marathon is run along the banks of the river stort in Hertfordshire. Muddy underfoot condtions made the going heavy, however Dan completed his first ultra in 5:40:44

Heading the furthest this weekend was a trio of Halsteads men who competed in Mondays Dublin Marathon. The ever popular marathon is a truly special event. Bob Langley was the first from the club home, swiftly followed by Paul Hinsley and Neil Poulter who both recorded new PB’s.
