A truly bumper lot of results this week.

Duo enjoy Club Debuts at Notley

Charlotte May and Chris Shotton made their Halstead Road Runner debuts at Saturdays Great Notley 5k Park Run. Both are products of the clubs popular Beginners Group, which is open to anyone wishing to try running. Both ran well with Chris Shotton even managing a new PB time over the 5k distance.

Colchester Half Marathon

Sundays foul weather didn’t deter the 13 Halstead Road Runners from completing the ever popular Colchester Half Marathon. Starting and finishing at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, home of Colchester United, the 13.1 mile route takes in the towns High Street, heading out to Langham before returning to the finish. Aaron Heard (pictured) and Jim Leaney both managed PB’s. Jenn Langley, recovering from injury, ran her first half marathon in preparation for her date in London next month. Meanwhile Dan Hollinshead, Jim Clark and Sam Wolton enjoyed a tussle throughout the race with less than a minute separating the 3 at the finish line.

Braintree Skyline 5

It was a family affair for the Hill’s on Sunday as the Father/Mother/Daughter trio took on the Braintree Skyline 5. Chirs Hill took family honours in being first home. Strong performances from Jon Buist and Andy Owens placed them well in the field of over 300 runners.

Daffodil Dawdle

Winds of up to 50 mph, heavy rain, hailstones and deep sticky mud were the conditions facing the Halstead runners who took on Newmarket’s Daffodil Dawdle trail marathon and 18 mile walk on Sunday. Rosie Atkins, Andy Wilmot and Dan Smith all took on the 26.7 mile marathon, while Carol and Wes Atkins tackled the 18 mile walk. The poor weather made a tough course all the more tougher, with the majority of the course off road, run through woods and fields.

Lowestoft 5

To round off another successful weekend for the club, Bradley Doe took on the Lowestoft 5 mile road race. Bradley’s continues to impress with each run and Sunday was no exception, finishing the course 9th place overall.
