With Great Sadness

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Kieran Woulfe passed away early this morning aged just 64. Many current members didn't know him but he was a member from the very beginning of HRR 32 years ago, a former chairman and one of the best runners we ever had, running 2:38 marathon and 1:14 half [...]

However, the rest of our runners all finished and in great times. Report below and a couple of photos attached of Jon Buist and Steve May with newsreader Sophie Raworth. [...]

Fabulous ladies’ team winning at the Sudbury Fun Run

There was success for the Halstead ladies at the Good Friday Sudbury Fun run with the powerful trio of Rachael Roughan, Caroliena Cameron and Mel Candler winning the ladies’ team prize. The race was Candler’s first time over the 5 mile distance on the road meaning she also achieved a personal best giving it everything to dip under the 38 [...]

Hot Hot Hot

Racing conditions this weekend were unseasonably hot for the Halstead Road Runners both home and abroad making it particularly difficult for those runners taking on the marathon distance. Dan Smith headed to the glamorous location of Ibiza for their inaugural marathon which attracted a field of over 2,500 runners. Despite wearing factor 50 and a hat Smith suffered in the [...]

Unfortunately no photo of Richard so I've attached photos of Rosie [...]

Relays at Harwich

Halstead Road Runners fielded 3 ladies’ teams at the Essex County senior and vet road relays which took place at the seafront at Harwich over an officially measured 5km course. Whilst runners benefitted from the wind on the outward leg, the return was tough. However, the competitive, yet good spirited, atmosphere resulted in personal bests being set for some runners. [...]
