This Saturday 22 Halstead Road Runners competed in the Essex Road Relay which took place in Harwich. The event is a 5km relay out and back along the seafront. Conditions were blustery. Results were as follows:
Senior men – Wes Atkins, Mat Hutley, Dan Hollinshead and Gavin Ripton came 19th in 1:19:07
V40 men – Nathan Roulson, Steve May and Gavin Allen came 9th in 58:03
V50 men – Andy Carter, Bob Langley and Neil Poulter came 11th in 1:07:02
Senior women – Victoria Metson, Charlii Bower and Lauren Hutley came 12th in 1:22:09
V35 women (1) – Mel Candler, Kelly Judge and Rachael Roughan came 6th in 1:11:24
V35 women (2) – Hazel Buist, Emma Healy and Anna Bambridge came 9th in 1:14:59
V45 women – Val Kerrison, Debbie Partridge and Sandi Robinson-Miller came 11th in 1:25:29
Two runners got a PB during the event over the 5k distance; Kelly Judge in 23:27 and Victoria Metson in 25:12.
Jimmy smith and Sam Wolton ran the Colchester 15 which is 2 laps of a hilly 7.5 mile course through Langham and Boxted. Jimmy Smith came 5th overall with a PB of 1:32:03. Sam completed the course in 2:04.
Nicole Smith completed the Colchester 7.5 mile course which is 1 lap of the same course in 1:11
John Warne ran in the Hare and Tortoise Brightlingsea 6 hour challenge. John completed 4 laps of a 6.55 mile route, completing 26.67 miles in a time of 5:42:30. The event was an off road route and the last lap was the most difficult due to adverse weather conditions including heavy winds, hail stones and freezing cold rain with muddy conditions underfoot.
