Oh wow!! What a scorcher! Where did that heat come from? Huge well done to all HRR racing this weekend!
HALSTEAD MARATHON
Our very own race. Fantastic turnout from HRR, friends and family to help put on another superb event.
Hot and extremely hilly, not the easiest marathon to run, we had 14 taking on the challenge.
Rachael Roughan was not only First Lady home but first home for Halstead in 03:46:33. Another incredible run from Rachael. James North gave it everything and finished in a brilliant 03:52:52. Running with a friend, Mat Hutley was using it as a training run (yes! A training run!) he finished in 03:56:28. Ben Brown ran a great race in 03:59:41. A brilliant run from Steve Fellowes who completed in 04:15:25. Proud to running the clubs own race, Perry James enjoyed it and was pleased to finish 04:41:16. Another solid run from Gav Ripton who finished in 04:43:23. Finishing with a smile was Michael Yeatts in 4:45:28 his first marathon in a a very long time. An incredible run from Sarah Waddington who achieved a PB of 04:47:53. Her last marathon was in the mountains, but the heat yesterday made this one just as tough. She knocked 2:25 off her last marathon time. Pacing Sarah was Ross Kemble in 04:47:54. A strong run from Sam Wolton in 04:48:13. Penny Clarke gave it everything finishing in 06:32:00 It was Marathon number 845 for Andy Wilmot who completed in 06:43:42. To add to the success of the day, our ladies team Rachael, Sarah and Penny won a county silver team medal, while James, Mat and Ben took the men’s county bronze.
ZIG ZAG HALF MARATHON
Two of our newest recruits headed to Barrow running centre in Bury St Edmunds to take part in the zig zag half marathon.
Both running their debut race for HRR, Danni Cutmore finished in 1:51.33 and Nina Symmington Smith in 1:54.30.
COLCHESTER 10k
Alice Ablitt was at Colchester 10k on Sunday. Only her second ever race, this was an effort due to the heat. Alice pushed on and completed in 1:23.59.
Well done to all.
