A fantastic weekend of racing and training runs for the team, with some great performances, personal achievements and plenty of sunshine along the way!
WELWYN GARDEN HALF MARATHON
A scenic but undulating half marathon taking in a mix of roads and trails around Welwyn Garden City.
Stewart Ellis took part in the Half Marathon, using the race as a training run ahead of his upcoming marathon. He tackled the multi terrain, undulating course in 1:28:08, finishing 1st in the V50 age category and 11th overall. A fantastic training run!
ESSEX TRAIL EVENTS TOPPESFIELD 10 MILE
A lovely countryside trail run around Toppesfield, with runners navigating their own way around the 10 mile route.
There were a few HRR there enjoying the autumn sunshine.
Steve May, Bob Langley, Neil Poulter and Paul Hinsley ran together and finished in 1:41, securing 2nd place. They finished off with a well deserved beer!
Coming back from injury, Caroliena Cameron enjoyed the run finishing in 2:09.
Penny Clarke also took on the 10 miles, despite having been unwell with a bad cold throughout the week. She was happy to get round and finished in 2:40.
HARWICH 10K
A popular local 10K around the coastal town of Harwich, offering a fast road route and a great atmosphere.
Paul Wade completed his second 10k event in two weeks beating last weeks time by 3 minutes. He finished in 1:00.06.
Simon Smith completed his first road 10K in eight years at the Harwich 10K, finishing 29th overall. Great result!
CARDIFF HALF MARATHON
A huge and popular half marathon through the Welsh capital, with a fast course and plenty of support along the way.
Aidan Kelly took on the Half Marathon and clocked a very respectable 1:49:55. Great running Aidan.
BIDWELLS CAMBRIDGE 10K
The Bidwells Cambridge 10K is a closed road race through the heart of Cambridge, starting and finishing close to Midsummer Common. The route takes runners through the city centre past historic university buildings and some of Cambridge’s best known landmarks, before following sections alongside the River Cam.
Rachael Roughan had a fantastic run, she was first home for Halstead, recording a PB of 42:22.
Perry James had a great race, using it to benchmark current fitness he finished in a brilliant time of 44:01.
Noush Springett was racing this event for the first time and really enjoyed it. She finished in 53:22.
Laura Smith had a strong performance over the 10K distance finishing in 53:23.
A great run from Dan Roughan who finished in 53:24.
Mandy Humm enjoyed the race in 54:42.
It was great to see Joby Humm returning to racing for the first time in over three years following a lengthy period of injury and surgery issues. He had ambitiously targeted a sub 60 minute finish and delivered, getting under the hour in 59:07. A fantastic comeback and a brilliant achievement.
