It’s been a busy Sunday for HRR, with plenty of our runners out enjoying the sunshine and getting stuck into the racing. We had three teams taking on the Essex Way Relay, while others headed to Takeley for the 10K. Here’s how everyone got on.
ESSEX WAY RELAY
Today was Essex Way Relay day, with HRR out in force, fielding three teams Halstead A, B and C.
For anyone new to the event, the Essex Way Relay is a team race where runners each tackle a section of the Essex Way before handing over to their teammates.
It was a very warm day out on the course, but there was plenty of camaraderie between the teams, with lots of encouragement and support along the way. We also had Lois Watson, AJ Seecharan and Laura Smith taking on the relay for the first time.
A big well done and thank you to Matt Biggin, Matt Thomas and Sam Wolton who stepped in to run two legs and help the teams out.
Another special mention to Matt Thomas, who finished 5th on leg 1 and 4th on leg 8, a great effort.

TAKELEY 10k
The Takeley 10K is a beautiful, scenic local race, starting along the old disused railway track before finishing back at Takeley.
HRR had five runners taking it on today, with Laurence Gowers leading the club home in a chip time of 43:02.
He was followed by Aidan Kelly in 48:23, Phil Jeffries in 48:26, Treena Carder in 1:04:56, John Warne in 1:09:21 and Maryann Sycamore in 1:11:08.
A busy Sunday for HRR, with plenty of miles covered across two events. Well done to everyone who got out there and represented the club today!
