We had 10 runners at the infamous One Tree Hill cross country event last Saturday, round 2 of this season’s Essex League.
142 runners completed the Under 20 and Senior Women’s race which measured a fraction under 4 miles and although we only had light rain to contend with, the course was quite slippery in places after the recent heavier rain. Wendy Carter placed 97th in 37:39, Lorraine Garnham 111th in 39:52, Emily Bentley 112th in 39:54, Val Kerrison 137th in 46:44 and Lauren Ripton 138th in 46:46. The Under 20 and Senior Men’s race was nearly a mile longer at 4.9 miles. 233 completed this race with Matt Thomas first home for HRR in 31:08 and 41st position followed by Laurence Gowers 111th in 35:33, Gav Ripton 168th in 40:48, Simon Smith 180th in 41:51 and Andy Carter 210th in 45:25.
