Another Halstead Road Runner has joined the 50 marathons club. John Warne completed his 50th marathon on Saturday at the Suffolk Running Centre. The centre was running a marathon on Saturday and Sunday which consisted of a 6.55 mile loop to be completed 4 times for the marathon distance. John completed Saturday in 5:19:00 and then went on to do Sunday in 5:37:00.
He was encouraged by marathon legend Andy Wilmot who also completed both days in 4:52:00 and 5:02:00.
A small group of HRR went along to the Forest of Light run at Thetford forest on Friday evening. This was a trail run around a 3km loop after dark and parts of the forest had been illuminated. Entrants could run as many laps of the 3km loop as they wanted within a 2 hour window. All the HRR participants opted just to do two laps and enjoy the illuminations.
On Sunday Steve May, Tom Porter, Dan Hollinshead and Wes Atkins took part in the Grange Farm River run which was a 7.5m trail run. They ran together and completed it in 1:06:00.
The Great East Run took place in Ipswich on Sunday in warm conditions with the following results:
