From wind and rain in Essex to sunshine and perfect running conditions in Spain, our runners have delivered brilliant performances this weekend.
HARE AND TORTOISE EVENT
A marathon held on the flat, traffic‑free trail along The Flitch Way at Rayne, with multiple loop options to make up the marathon distance.
Tough conditions made it a grind from start to finish.
We had several HRR battling the horrendous weather. Strong winds and heavy rain made for a challenging day, but they all got it done and banked the miles when it counted.
Gary Wiles was there and using it as a marathon training run. He completed 4 loops, 14.3 miles in 2:46:03.
Richard Turner clocked 19.68 miles (6 loops) in 4:09:13 while Elysia Anthony (6:27:05) and Neil Addington (6:27:05) completed the Marathon distance.
BARCELONA HALF MARATHON
Mandy Humm had the right idea, heading to Barcelona to run the flat, fast city-centre half marathon popular for PB attempts and reliable February weather.
Mandy finished in 1:52, a whopping 13 minutes faster than last year. A fantastic run Mandy.
SEVILLE MARATHON
One of Europe’s flattest marathon courses, and known for its sunny skies and ideal running temperatures.
Sam Hillyard completed the Seville marathon finishing in 4:38:28, just 18 eighteen weeks after a breast cancer diagnosis. Sam was determined to keep running and is a true inspiration to us all. Her 20th marathon and a brilliant achievement.
Jenny Smith was also there and ran a personal best of 4:47:22, taking 3 minutes 20 seconds off her previous marathon time. Huge well done Jenny!
Great running from all!
