A busy weekend for running. HRR had 24 members racing.
ATW REMEMBRANCE RUNS
The Active Training World remembrance races are traffic-free and use the flat and fast concrete grounds of the disused former World War II airfield at Carver Barracks. Runners earn themselves an aeroplane shaped strava map at the end of the race. Ladies Captain, Victoria Metson ran the 5k race. She smashed her 5k PB finishing 7th lady and 2nd in her age group in 22:37. On her first race of the weekend, Lisa Jackson ran the 10k with her sister. The aim was to pace her to achieve a time of under 1 hour, they finished in 57:41.
STEBBING 10
Sunday saw the return of the popular Stebbing 10 County Champs race. Chris Lloyd was first home for Halstead in 59:40, a 5 minute 30 second course PB. Our first lady home was Rachel Rising in 1:02:53.Ben Ryder finished in 1:04:28. Alastair Wilson in 1:06:41 and James North 1:06:49. Finishing with a 1 minute 30 PB and a V40 silver medal, Rachael Roughan crossed the line in 1:10:28. Karen Pickering finished in 1:19:12. Having another brilliant run was Dan Roughan, finishing with a 5 minute PB in 1:21:09. Sam Wolton crossed the line in 1:20:47. On her second race of the weekend, Lisa Clark finished in 1:24:40. Sarah Waddington crossed the line in 1:26:50, Rebecca Gilroy in 1:28:55, Darren Powell in  1:32:25 and John Warne in 1:38:57. It was Rowan Gymer’s first official race in club colours and her longest run ever. She bought Halstead home in 1:46:29.
WIX 5
This 5 mile race is a single, anti-clockwise lap through Wix, Stones Green and passing Great Oakley and us in memory of a former Harwich runner. The route is predominantly flat with great PB potential and the light winds on the open course made it a pleasant run. Simon Smith was first home for Halstead in 36.46 and was 3rd V60 male. Josh Roughan had a great race and finished in 40.46. It was Wendy Carter’s first road race in 8 years and she had a brilliant run finishing in 41.25, 4th V55 lady.David Clark crossed the line in 46.03 and Gary Wiles  in 46.13.
HENHAM 10k TRAIL
Noush Springett was at the Henham 10k trail race on Sunday. A beautiful setting, the race took place around a lake and in woodlands with plenty of leaves, conkers and roots to navigate through.
Noush finished in 50.48, was 27th female and 6th in her age category.
THE HOBBLE
Steve May took on his longest race in a long time on Sunday. The Hobble is a 15 mile, slightly hilly, self navigational trail race which starts and finishes in Galleywood. He completed in 2.06.31, was 3rd place overall and 2nd male.The event also offers a 5.6 mile option which Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries took advantage of finishing in 59:51.
