From ancient trails to London streets and coastal sunrises, HRR went the distance — and then some — in a weekend packed with endurance.
HOPE 24 HOUR
A week after taking on Spitfire Scramble where he ran just under 30 miles, Sam Wolton was at another 24 hour race, this time as a solo runner. His aim was to run 60 miles, a total of 12 loops within the 24 hours. He did it. Huge well done Sam.
RACE TO THE STONES
Tracy English took on the 100k ultramarathon along Britain’s oldest footpath, the ancient Ridgeway, racing towards the 5000-year-old Avebury Standing Stones, a UNESCO World Heritage site. A ridiculously warm day, it was a challenging run but Tracy completed it and in a fantastic time of 13:54.33 finishing 8th in her age category.
LONDON 10K
Charli Bower took on the London 10k on Sunday. Live bands, DJs and cheering spectators motivated runners as they ran the closed-road route that took them through central London. Loving the race Charli finished in 59:13.
ARTHUR WHISTON 5 MILES
Currently on a training plan, Simon Miller ran the Arthur Whiston 5 miler as part of his 8 mile steady run on Sunday. Arthur was an old team mate from Colchester Harriers, who sadly died sadly last year. A great way to honour his memory.
GOSFIELD TRIATHLON
Well done to Aidan Kelly who took part in his first Sprint triathlon at Gosfield lake. He completed the 750m lake swim in 27:54, the 20k bike ride in 40:08 and the 5k run in 28:13. His overall time was 1:39.34. A fantastic performance at his first Tri event.
DUNWICH DYNAMO
Andy Carter, Don English, Nathan and Jo Roulson completed the 112 mile overnight cycle ride on Saturday night, from Hackney London to Dunwich on the Suffolk Coast. The Dynamo has been an annual event every July for over 20 years since a group of London cyclists thought it was a good idea whilst in a pub!! There is no official entry, no map, no marshals….just head off when you want and finish on the beach at Dunwich.
Well done to all this weekend.
