The sun may have been shining but an extremely windy weekend made for tough racing conditions.
MAVERICK SUFFOLK TRAIL
Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries took part in this 9km trail race on Saturday in Rendlesham Forest. The route wasn’t as muddy as expected but was a sandy trail with a strong headwind in places. They finished in 58:04.
LONDON LANDMARKS HALF MARATHON
The London Landmarks half marathon takes in some iconic London landmarks, including Westminster Bridge, Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Shard and the Tower of London. HRR had two runners taking on the challenge on Sunday. Aidan Kelly, hoping for sub 1:50, suffered with cramp the last 2 miles but pushed on finishing in 1:51.24. Charlii Bower was running for a charity close to her heart, Blood Cancer UK and raised a fantastic £885. She loved every minute of the run and crossed the line in 2:14.42.
HAVERHILL HALF MARATHON
John Warne used Jeff to help him complete the Haverhill half marathon on Sunday. He completed in 2:29:14 which was pleasing as he had done little training. It was extremely hilly with very strong head winds, well done John.
ESSEX ROAD RELAYS
Sunday saw the return of the Essex road relays held at Northern Gateway, Colchester. The fast, flat 3 mile course was made tough by the windy conditions. HRR had a fantastic turnout and fielded 5 ladies and 6 men’s teams.
