Those spring marathons are fast approaching and training those long miles is really paying off.
CHELMSFORD HALF MARATHON
Starting in Chelmsford city centre and finishing on the Anglia Ruskin University campus, the course runs through some of the major landmarks in Chelmsford. HRR had one roadrunner flying the flag on Sunday. Taking it on as part of his ongoing marathon training, Ross Kemble finished in 1:56.07.
CAMBRIDGE HALF MARATHON
There were 10 roadrunners in action at the Cambridge half. Known to be fast and flat, the new route for 2024 took in four University of Cambridge Colleges – Kings, Jesus, St John’s and Trinity. Rachel Rising was first home for Halstead in 1:22.53. Currently training for Manchester marathon Ben Brown crossed the line in 1:28.24, a 38 second PB since his last half in October. Another Manchester team member training hard is James North who got himself a 2 minute PB of 1:30.32. In training for London marathon, Tracy English finished in 1:34.14.  Men’s Captain Perry James achieved a 9 minute PB finishing in 1:37.56, smashing his target of sub 1:40. Newcomer to the club and running his debut race for Halstead, Adam Hampton had a superb run taking 9 minutes off his previous PB to finish in 1:38.17. Gareth Dyball, also marathon training and sticking to plan, felt good after crossing the line in 1:41.15. Another HRR running their debut race for the club was Sophie Dorset. She beat her previous PB by 3 minutes finishing in 2:07. Finishing in 2:07.06, Maryann Sycamore had a great run loving the opportunity to take pictures on the way round. She’s feeling positive about her next big challenge, the Essex 20 mile race before also taking on Manchester marathon  in April. Mary Veater enjoyed the race and the support from the crowd. Just what she needed to get her running mojo back, she finished in 2:09.48. Well done Team HRR.
