It was another weekend of racing for our runners, with members taking on everything from a first triathlon to a marathon and a local trail race.
GOSFIELD TRIATHLON
A huge well done to Ryan Miller, who completed his very first multi-sport event at the Gosfield Sprint Triathlon on Sunday. Ryan tackled the 750m swim in 17:15, followed by the 20km bike in 49:22, before finishing the 5k run in 25:19. (Although the run measured 5.34km on his watch). A great performance to finish with an overall time of 1:35:02, including transitions. A brilliant first triathlon and hopefully the first of many!
BARROW MARATHON
On Saturday, Andy Wilmot took on the Barrow Marathon, a tough course made up of four out-and-back laps. Andy finished in 5:51, a fantastic effort considering he’d only recently returned to running after cataract surgery, which kept him out of action for three weeks. He’s got another three marathons to complete, so with each one under his belt, he’s hoping his fitness will continue to improve. A great achievement and best of luck with the remaining races.
MEC TRAIL
Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries were back on the trails, taking on the Mid Essex Casuals 6 Mile Trail Race at Hatfield Peverel. Running together throughout, they enjoyed another well organised event and scenic course.
