A busy weekend of racing saw club members take on a mixture of trail and road events, with some excellent performances, personal bests and plenty of enjoyment across the courses.
RIDLEY ROUND
A popular local trail race with a varied route through woodland, fields and countryside. Known also for providing the added bonus of passing through some great locations, with runners able to enjoy the traditional pub stops along the way.
The club was represented by a strong group of runners, with Perry James leading the way in an impressive 2:48:57.
Lewis Fagg and Mathew Hutley both finished in 3:11:19.
Hannah Ervine, Adam Hampton, Joe Slee and Ross Kemble all recorded 3:15:10.
Sarah Waddington and Bec Gilroy crossed the line together in 3:46:57, followed by Andrew Livermore and Amy Harmon in 3:52:25.
Isabel Turner and Richard Turner finished in 4:18:41, with Alice Ablitt, Sandra Creak and Penelope Clarke completing the course in 4:31:00.
ARTHUR WHISTON 5 MILE
A well established 5 mile race that attracts a strong field each year. The fast, mostly flat course provides a great opportunity for runners to chase personal bests bests and this year also formed part of the Essex County Championships, adding extra competition.
James North was pleased with his run, finishing in 32:15, while Jenny Smith celebrated a superb performance with an official time of 45:15, taking 2 minutes and 11 seconds off her previous personal best.
KIRSTE 5 MILE MEMORIAL TRAIL RUN
A scenic trail race through the beautiful Hockley Woods.
Running together, Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries both enjoyed taking on the woodland course finishing in 1:01.
COLCHESTER RACE FOR LIFE
The event was held in support of Cancer Research UK. Taking place in the scenic surroundings of Lower Castle Park, the course followed grass and paths with some inclines.
Katie Martin made a last minute decision to enter, marking her first race in a long while, and enjoyed being part of the atmosphere and supporting such a worthwhile event.
