With so many races and events to choose from, HRR had another busy weekend.
LUCKY HORSESHOE MARATHON
Ray Sharman and Andy Wilmot ran the Lucky horse shoe marathon hosted by Zig Zag running on Saturday. It was a part road, part trail, out and back race, starting at Suffolk running centre and turning back at Newmarket. Having a great race, Ray ran it in 3:56 finishing in 5th place out of 36. Andy Wilmot was running marathon 851 and finished in 6:12.
IPSWICH HALF MARATHON
The Ipswich half marathon starts and finishes at Portman Road Stadium – home to Ipswich Town FC. HRR’s Ross Kemble was there to support a friend running her first half marathon race. Enjoying the miles he finished in 2:39.
VITALITY 10K
The Vitality 10K course guides runners past some of London’s most famous landmarks, including St Paul’s Cathedral and Big Ben. HRR had 3 enjoying the atmosphere and taking on the challenge on Sunday. Aidan Kelly had a great race finishing in 48.59. Gary Wiles got himself a brand new PB of 1:01.44. Loving the experience, Katie De Bourcier also achieved a PB of 1:15.47.
LANGHAM 10K
The Langham 10k is an annual event organised by Boxted Runners in aid of Langham School. Lisa Jackson had a fantastic race finishing in 49:53. She was 16th female out of 158, and was 5th in her age category. Lisa was almost 11 minutes quicker than when she last ran this course back in 2017! Great racing Lisa well done.
EASTERN ATHLETICS
Reliving his school days, Steve May took part in the Eastern AA combined events (pentathlon) on Sunday at a very rainy Peterborough. The event consisted of long jump, javelin, 200m, discus & 1500m. Considering Steve hadn’t taken part in the field events since school (did someone say 31 years ago ?!) he did brilliantly coming away with an Eastern Bronze medal and an Essex Gold medal. Great performance Steve!!
ESSEX TRAIL EVENTS AUTUMN AMBLE
Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries ran the Autumn Amble on Sunday, a 7 mile self navigational trail race near Hatfield Peveral.
Running together they finished in 1:10.56.
All round great running!!
