Some super running from Halstead roadrunners this weekend. With many training hard for spring marathons and other up and coming races there was some serious mileage going on.
PARKRUN PBs
Team Roughan were Parkrun tourists at the weekend taking part in Clacton Parkrun.
Currently training for Manchester marathon, Dan is reaping the rewards of his hard work and achieved a Parkrun PB of 24:38.
Rachael had a fantastic run finishing first lady in 21:50 and the youngest member of the team, Callum also got himself a PB just beating his dad to the finish in 24:20.
ST PETERS WAY ULTRA
This Ultra marathon took place on Sunday. The St Peter’s Way is 43 miles of footpath meandering through the countryside of Essex. An ancient pilgrimage route dating back to the 7th century, it runs from Chipping Ongar to the ancient chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall at Bradwell on Sea taking in many places of interest along the way. A 43 mile trail run is simply AMAZING and who better to take on the challenge than our very own ultra runners Keely Jordan and Nathan Roulson. Although great conditions under foot, runners still faced strong headwinds and a short hail storm. It took Nathan the first 10 miles to warm up the hamstring that he had pulled slightly during the week, but fortunately it didn’t bother him for the rest of the race. With a couple of wrong turns costing him around two-and-a-half minutes, Nathan ran a brilliant race and was happy to finish in 3rd place overall in 6:02.24. Joining Nathan for 7 of the 43 miles, Keely also had a superb race and took joint first place for the ladies in a time of 6:50.23 finishing in 6th place overall.
ESSEX TRAIL EVENTS SMUGGLERS TRAIL
Taking place on Sunday, the smugglers trail was a 6.3 mile self navigation trail starting along the estuary in Hullbridge. Treena Carder did a terrific job representing HRR finishing in 1:07:37 and coming 8th female out of 59 and 28th out of 115 overall.
Well done to all!!
