The Barrow 10 in 10 Challenge started on Thursday. Anyone contemplating running a single marathon in the current heat wave would find it gruelling let alone to run on consecutive days. This year’s Challenge was particularly notable for Halstead’s Andy Wilmot who, at 74 years of age, completed his 750th marathon on day 2 of the series. He was accompanied by club mates John Warne and Keith Thorogood, his friend of many years. Warne and Wilmot have completed 4 marathons in 4 days so far with Wilmot aiming to do the whole 10 in 10. Their times were:
Day 1 The Circle route 5:07 (Warne) 5:07 (Wilmot)
Day 2 Kirtling route 5:07 (Warne) 5:18 (Wilmot) 6:01 (Thorogood)
Day 3 Clover route 5:03 (Warne) 4:48 (Wilmot)
Day 4 Wickhambrook route 5:38 (Warne) 5:10 (Wilmot)
On Sunday there was the Stort 5 and 10 races.
