Horseheath Point to Point course was the venue for the 3rd fixture in the Essex Cross Country League and the last cross country race before Christmas. The venue is completely exposed to the elements leaving the runners to deal with some bitterly cold and extremely windy conditions.
Rachael Roughan led the way for the Road Runners’ ladies in 29th followed by some close packing between Caroliena Cameron (56), Anna Bambridge (58) and Kelly Judge (60) finishing just ahead of team mate Wendy Carter (61) to complete the scoring team. Sandi Robinson-Miller was also not far behind in 64th. Nicole Smith finished in 85th with Lauren Hutley putting in a great uphill sprint finish in 92nd. The ladies currently sit in 3rd position in Division 2.
James Smith (31) and Wes Atkins (36) were the first scorers for the Halstead men. Bob Langley (111) and Don English (135) continue to perform strongly in the field as well as in the V60 age category. Andy Carter (170), who completed the race despite ankle problems, and Darren Powell (172) ensured the men had a full scoring team. This improved their finish position on the day and leave the men at the top of Division 2 with an impressive lead.
