It was sunshine all round this weekend and HRR were making the most of it.

FRIDAY NIGHT 5
The Friday night 5k hosted by ATW at Northern Gateway which incorporates the Essex 5k county championships was popular with HRR. With an anticlockwise, traffic free, tarmac course with no sharp bends, and a finish line at the end of the main straight it was the perfect opportunity to chase PBs.

Chris Lloyd was first home for Halstead in 16:52 taking 40 seconds off his official 5k time from the same race 2. Years ago. Ben Ryder, recently returned from injury achieved a new PB of 17:02. Amazing!! Another fantastic run from Ian Wingrove who crossed the line in 17:03. Also achieving a PB was Reece Hearn in 17:11.

Our First Lady to cross the line was Rachel Rising in 18:36. Training is paying off for James North who finished in 19:29, an improvement of 24 seconds at the same race last year. Karen Pickering ran a great race in 19:42. Continuing her impressive form was Rachael Roughan in 21:08. Aidan Kelly ran well in 22:55.

Training hard and running so well at the moment, Dan Roughan finished in 23:05. It was Josh Roughan’s first race in club colours and he had a brilliant debut crossing the line in 24:35.

SANT ANTONI CALONGE 5k
Well done to Team Humm, racing the Sant Antoni Calonge night run in 28 degree heat whilst on holiday in Spain. Mandy ran well finishing in 25:10.It was great to see Joby back racing in club colours after a year out with knee injury and surgery. He ran with Liam Menezes a friend of the club, and they finished in 30:00.

COLD NORTON 10k TRAIL
Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries were back on the trails on Sunday for a 10k self navigating race.
The route was mainly on grass, tracks and paths in the countryside around Cold Norton and nearby villages. They ran together in 1:06.58.
