The sun was shining on Sunday and it was a busy weekend for HRR, with races ranging from 5 mile to marathon distance.
BRIGHTON MARATHON
The Brighton Marathon is a well-established coastal marathon with an undulating, scenic course and strong crowd support towards the finish.
Mark Darling had a great run in 3:58.21
After several months of focused training Andrew Livermore and Amy Harmon both enjoyed their first ever marathon distance.
Andrew Livermore finished in 5:02:26 and Amy Harmon in 5:14:27.
BOSTON UK MARATHON, HALF AND 10k
The Boston UK Marathon was run in testing windy conditions that made pacing more difficult than usual.
Taking on the marathon distance, James North delivered a strong performance, taking 13 minutes off his PB to finish in 3:08.
Rachael Roughan took on the half distance as part of her marathon training. A controlled effort in line with marathon training targets bought Rachael in at 1:54.24
It was great to see Lauren Ripton taking on the 10k race, she finished in 1:06:40.
BROMLEY 10K
The Bromley 10K is known for being flat and friendly.
Jenny Smith used it as part of her ongoing London marathon training finishing in 59:20.
Jane Roach had a good run in 59:29.
LONDON LANDMARKS HALF MARATHON
The London Landmarks Half Marathon offers a fabulous central London route with great crowd support.
Paul Carter enjoyed the race finishing in 2:13.29.
Charlii Bower ran this as the first of two half marathons to raise money for a breast cancer charity. She finished in 2:14.15.
COLNE ENGAINE 5 and 10 MILE
The Colne Engaine Fun Run is a 5 or 10 mile race starting on the Village Green, featuring a figure of eight course through scenic, leafy lanes. The race includes an uphill section and concludes with a downhill sprint along Pebmarsh Road and back to the village green.
Taking on the 5 mile:
Phil Jeffries had a great run in 35:43.
Lorraine Garnham looked strong throughout finishing in 46:00.
Treena Carder crossed the line in 49:08.
Enjoying the atmosphere was John Warne in 52:24 and Val Kerrison in 55:48.
Opting for the longer 10 mile:
It was great to see Laurence Gowers running his first race in club colours. He had a brilliant run in 1:14.47.
Rich Turner and Clare Wilson ran together in 1:58.49 snd 1:58.53.
A special shout out to tail biker Nathan McGregor who is unable to run at the moment due to injury. That didn’t stop him from joining in with the fun!
