A very wet and muddy weekend for those out running. A tough muddy cross country course on Saturday followed by an array of more mud filled events on Sunday.
MARKSHALL PARKRUN
Who doesn’t love a Parkrun…?! Millie Felstead was at a very wet Markshall Parkrun on Saturday. She had a great run finishing 2nd lady with a new PB of 23:42.
WIX 5
Rachael Roughan and Jane Roach took a trip to Wix on Sunday to represent HRR at the Wix 5 mile. Although a great course they had a horrible headwind for the last mile. The finish was on a boggy field making the final 100 meters tough going. Rachael had a fantastic race finishing with a new 5 mile PB of 34:44. Jane enjoyed the race and crossed the line in 46:50.
CHASE THE TRAIN
This off road scenic 9 mile run started at Aylsham Bure Valley train station and finished at Wroxham Train station. The course followed the foot path adjacent to the train track. The principle was to get to Wroxham in time to catch the free train back to Aylsham. It was a challenging race, although flat, it was narrow in places with rough terrain. Maryann Sycamore was our only HRR there and she did it! She beat the train, clocking 1:29.35.
ELMSTEAD HALF AND FULL MARATHON
HRR had two roadrunners taking part on Sunday. Both races were narrative trail meaning there were no marshals and runners followed written instructions which took them on a circular route around the villages near Little Bromley. The route was 90% off road on a wide variety of terrain. After both having run a tough cross country course on Saturday, Caroliena Cameron took on the half while Neil Addington took on the full marathon. The recent rain made conditions difficult and very muddy. After her fantastic performance the day before at cross country (2nd HRR lady to score!) Caroliena continued her great form finishing 1st lady in a time of 2:35.54. Only a week after Stort 30 and the day after a tough cross country course, Neil Addington ran marathon number 108. A brutal run, Neil finished in 6:28.36.
Superb running as always from Team HRR!!
