BOXING DAY 5 MILE
HRR had three runners at the Witham Boxing Day 5 mile race. The route gently climbs for the first two miles before heading back towards Witham with a gentle downhill. Powered by Turkey and Christmas pudding they all ran well. Ben Ryder had yet another superb run finishing 13th place overall in 28:04. Chris Lloyd finished strong in 32nd position in 30:28. Having recently returned to the club and competed in cross country, Bradley Doe made this his first road race since being back. A great run, he finished in 33:45.
NYE 2023
Some great mileage was clocked by many this year. HRR had a team at the Flitch way half marathon and marathon to finish the year off with some big miles. The Flitch Way NYE event is a pretty out and back event mostly along the old disused railway line, known as the Flitch way. A great way to see out the old year. Always making it look easy and always with a smile, Rachael Roughan was using this as a training run. She finished 4th lady in 1:53.59. Also using it as a training run, Dan Roughan was pleased to take 7 minutes off his time from last year and finished in 2:18.16. Having completed Malaga half marathon at the start of December, Mary Veater took this on for training purposes and to keep those miles in her legs. She finished in 2:25.22. Charlii Bower was running with her cousin, her first half in a while, she crossed the line in 2:27.42. Jo Norris is one of our stand out members of the year. Having started the club in January on the C25K programme she has gone from strength to strength. Jo has fully embraced HRR and took part in the handicap series in the summer before being part of the team at a variety of different races and events, including XCountry. Her final challenge of 2023 was to take on her first half marathon. A massive well done to Jo for completing it in 2:34.52. Ross Kemble has finished 2023 on a whopping 1285 miles for the year. Ross ran with Jo and completed his final run of the year in 2:34.56. Another solid run from Penny Clarke who finished in 2:46.35. To finish the year off Neil Addington ran marathon number 110. Neil stuck to his plan of run/ walking to get him to the finish line. He finished in 6:14.33.
Well done Team
