HALSTEAD MARATHON
The Halstead and Essex Marathon did not disappoint! We had a fantastic turnout, with club members taking on the challenge. Whether marshalling or running, it’s always a special event to be part of, and this year was no exception. First home for Halstead was Karen Pickering in 3:25:26. An amazing performance, especially just two weeks after completing the London Marathon! Ben Ryder finished in 3:34:22. A strong run from Ben. Pacing it well was Alastair Wilson in 3:48:01. A brilliant run from Nina Symington Smith, not sure what Sunday would bring, she absolutely smashed her expectations in 3:52:05. It was a great effort from George Wilson in 4:00:49. Running with her husband, Danni Cutmore finished strong in 4:15:06. John Day ran well in 4:15:22. Steve Fellowes, using it as a training run, finished in 4:32:17. Looking very fresh at the finish, Bec Gilroy completed in 4:38:15. Sam Wolton finished in 4:45:23. Brilliant as ever—he rounded off the race with press-ups at the finish line! Also in training mode, Ross Kemble remained steady and strong, finishing in 4:48:34. It was Jordan Palmer’s first marathon and he battled through injury in training to get across the line in 4:51:15. Huge well done! Dressed as a bee and looking fantastic, Sam Hillyard thoroughly enjoyed the day and completed in 4:54:37. Paul Hinsley also completed in 4:54:37. Mark Darling got a solid training run under his belt in 4:56:24. Pushing through the tough conditions, Glynn Stone finished in 5:38:59. Andy Wilmot had a great race, completing in 5:56:08 and John Warne finished in 6:09:11. Our first three ladies—Karen, Nina and Danni—won themselves an Essex Silver Ladies Team Medal. Huge congratulations to all our runners.
COLCHESTER 10K
Well done to Simon Miller who took on the Colchester 10K, pacing a friend to the finish in 54:28. A great effort, and even more special as it was his first race in club colours! Whether it was 10K or 26.2 miles, it’s fantastic to see so many club members out racing, supporting, and representing. Here’s to more great performances and good times ahead.
