From fast Friday night 5-milers to long, sun-soaked trail marathons, HRR members have been out putting in the miles
SPRINGFIELD FRIDAY NIGHT 5 MILES
A warm summer’s evening saw four HRR members take on another installment of the popular Friday Night 5 series – This time at Springfield. A fast, friendly 5-mile race perfect for testing summer legs.
Luis Bettancourt Canas had a great race in 33:51, leading HRR home.
Ross Kemble followed in 36:27, putting in another solid effort.
Paul Gerrard clocked 47:34.
Penny Clarke battled through in 52:24, a strong finish in humid conditions.
SVP MARATHON
Part of the scenic but tough Stour Valley Path series, the SVP Marathon delivered a testing day out in the heat. With eyes on the Stour Valley Path 100k in August, Ross Kemble and Steve Fellowes treated the SVP Marathon as a long training effort. Ross was on his second race of the weekend, and as the midday heat took its toll, they made the sensible decision to switch to a walk from mile 16, finishing in 6:02:39 – an excellent session for time on feet and mental preparation. Andy Wilmot also completed the marathon, running and walking with a friend, finishing in 7:36:00 – a great effort in tough conditions.
BLACK NOTLEY 10K
Caroliena Cameron, still nursing a persistent hamstring issue, took on the scenic Black Notley 10k trail race. She enjoyed the route and battled through to a 1:07 finish.
Well done all!
