Halstead Road Runners have been out undertaking some major events over the last few weeks.

Bob Langley and Neil Poulter took on the 50km Writtle Round on the 25th July. This is an off road route with navigation by narrative route description. Bob completed it in 5:34:56 coming 16th overall and Neil completed it in 5:58:29 coming in 27th place.

John Warne has undertaken two of the Hare and Tortoise Coastal Series. These are 6 hour events run in various coastal locations and you can run as many laps in the 6 hours as you choose. John did the Life’s A Beach event at Holland-On-Sea on the 31st July. This event was a 5km lap and John completed 8 laps, 26.43 miles in 5:01:52. On the 7th August he did the Are You Shore event at Brightlingsea which was a 6.55 mile lap. John did two laps, 13.37 miles in 2:31:05.

On 31st July Paul Hinsley travelled to Exmoor to undertake the Exmoor trail running challenge. Paul chose to complete the marathon distance (26.2miles) and he completed it in 5:59:00. The climb to the top of Exmoor was incredibly hard and he had to run an extra 2 miles as someone had removed some of the trail signs on the route.

The London Landmarks Half Marathon took place on the 1st August.

Ian Wingrove completed it in 1:23:15 and placed 61 out of 10970 finishers.
Gareth Dyball completed it in 1:45:30.
Victoria Metson and Emma Healy ran together in a time of 2:00:53.

The Stour Valley Path events took place on 15th August. This is an undulating route following the SVP footpath mostly off road. Bob Langley completed the 100km event in a time of 14:03:49 placing first in the M60 category.

Ross Kemble and Darren Powell completed the 50km event in 6:55:08.
