MILTON KEYNES WINTER HALF

This single-lap, traffic-free course took runners on an anti-clockwise journey around the scenic highlights of Milton Keynes, along the picturesque Grand Union Canal and through the beautiful parks. With Storm Darragh raging throughout the weekend, it was a freezing cold, wet and windy day. HRR’s Hayley Lamkin was there battling the elements. An incredibly impressive run, Hayley finished 4th lady [...]

Weekend running

ESSEX LEAGUE CROSS COUNTRY In the penultimate round of the Essex Cross Country League, HRR had 5 athletes in action. The venue was Writtle College University and the fast/flat terrain was ideal along with the mild dry weather. The women's 2 lap race measured 4.6 miles and saw 138 finishers. Noush Springett led the way for Halstead, finishing 71st in [...]

STORMY RUNNING

Storm Bert made for some tough running conditions this weekend. ADNAMS 10K The popular Adnams 10k race takes place every November in Southwold. It’s a circular route, involving two-and-a-half laps. The harbour can be challenging with its shingle surface, and there is an incline on the way to the finish. This year Storm Bert brought 55mph winds, which made it a [...]

WEEKEND RUNNING

ESSEX LEAGUE CROSS COUNTRY The third race in the Essex Cross Country league was held at Hilly fields in Colchester. The clue is in the name, and yes it definitely is a ‘hilly’ venue. However, with recent dry weather the course was kinder than it could have been. HRR had three ladies running the 4.5 mile course which was longer than [...]

Our girls team finished in 4th place and our boys in 7th, leaving us [...]

DUBLIN MARATHON

HRR’s Adam Hampton ran alongside more than 20,000 athletes from over 60 countries on Sunday when he took on the Dublin Marathon. The fast, flat course features many of Dublin's iconic landmarks and has great crowd support. Adam finished in 3:32.27 taking 17 minutes off his previous marathon PB set in Berlin only last month. Huge well done Adam.

NESS LEAGUE XC

Sunday saw Ipswich Jaffas host the first race of the new Ness XC league on the grounds in and around Ipswich High School. 22 Halstead Road Runners turned out on a beautifully sunny day to tackle the twisty course with a few little hills and a stile thrown in for good measure. For the ladies Rachael Roughan, who was running [...]

Round Two of the Essex Cross Country League took place at Gloucester Park, Basildon. The very popular venue saw 139 finishers in the women's 4.4 mile race and 267 in the men's 5.2 mile race. In perfect weather and ground conditions both races got off to a fast start until the runners got to the second part of the lap, [...]

WINDSWEPT

Weather conditions were challenging for anyone racing this weekend. ABINGDON MARATHON The Abingdon Marathon was first held in 1982 and  celebrated its 40th edition this year. The course is flat and fast, almost all on roads, and is a great race to go for a personal best time. However, on Sunday the conditions were far from ideal. Having trained hard, Matt Thomas [...]
