BOXING DAY 5
Huge well done to three HRR who raced at the Witham Boxing Day 5 mile race. Laura Smith got herself a brand new PB of 43:51. Jenny Smith finished with a 16 second PB of 47:26. Sarah Frost also had a great run finishing with her fastest time in a few years of 48:20. Well done ladies!
SIX GEESE A LAYING TRAIL
Several Halstead Road Runners took part in the Six Geese A Laying Trail Runs at Felsted in cold, bright conditions along some very muddy footpaths. There were three distances to choose from, all approximate, starting and finishing at The Chequers pub, with runners navigating the routes by means of a written route description. 82 runners completed the half marathon, with Bob Langley and 2nd claim member Gavin Allen finishing joint 7th in 2 hours 2 minutes and 3 seconds. Aidan Kelly finished 49th in 2:35:10. The 8 mile race saw 46 finishers, with Simon Smith placing an excellent 5th in 1:15:37, followed by Andy Carter in 7th and 1:18:20. Finally, in the 5 mile race there were 57 runners and walkers. HRR had Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries in joint 4th place in 56:06 then Wendy Carter and Lisa Rodbourn joint 6th in 56:57.
