Fantastic weather ensured a great turnout at every one of the four trail run series over the Easter weekend. Trail run specialists Andy & Wendy Carter ran all four with many other HRR club mates taking part in at least one. Where there was more than one distance to choose from, those over 5 miles counted towards the overall scores with cash prizes on offer to the top 15 men and women.
Race one was on Good Friday at The Bell, Panfield with 18 runners competing over 4.7 miles, 100 in the 6.93 miles and 57 in the 13.1 miles.
Neil Poulter and Steve May had a great run in the half marathon, Neil coming 3rd in 1:56:25 and Steve 4th in 1:56:32. Kelly Judge, running with her husband Paul, came 18th in 2:19:29
Andy placed 16th in the 6.93m in 59:39, followed by Sandi Robinson-Miller 30th 1:07:36, Tom Porter 33rd 1:08:03, Jon Greenley 35th 1:08:24, Caroliena Cameron, Treena Carder & Phil Jeffries 36th-38th in 1:08:44, Wendy, Anna Bambridge & Rachael Roughan 43rd-45th in 1:09:48, Sarah Frost 75th 1:30:11
Easter Saturday saw a choice of 5.2 miles or 11 miles around the hilly woodland and footpaths of Little Baddow. We had just 6 runners in the shorter race, with Andy first home in 8th place out of the 80 finishers in 46:24, followed by Tom and Jon 19th/20th in 50:58, Anna, Rachael & Wendy 32nd-34th in 54:38
Felsted was the venue on Easter Sunday with another high turnout, 144 finishers in the 7.5 miles and 18 in the 3.6 miles. Andy was first HRR again in 24th with a time of 1:07:19, Steve 39th 1:14:05, Wendy 70th 1:19:36, Leigh-Anne Porter and Kelly 72nd/73rd 1:20:28, Sam Wolton and Caroliena 79th/80th 1:22:05, Lorraine Garnham and Nicole Smith 88th/89th 1:23:27. Rob Frost won the short race in 27:50 from Jimmy Smith 2nd in 28:10 and Sarah Frost 8th in 47:13
Finally, on Easter Monday, no fewer than 220 runners and walkers completed a 6.2 miles (10k) route at Great Waltham. Jimmy was well placed with 4th in 44:49, followed by Dan Hollinshead and Jim Clark 30th/31st in 53:19, Andy 34th 55:05, Steve, Neil and Tom 40th-42nd 56:40 then came the yellow train of Wendy, Treena, Phil, Lisa Rodbourn & Adrian Gasser 79th-83rd in 1:02:29, Trevor Sibley 86th 1:03:02, Sam Hillyard 87th 1:03:15
