Rain, rain rain making for wet and muddy conditions! Perfect for those mud loving, trail crazy, roadrunners!
PSUK XC
Aidan Kelly was back out running on Wednesday at the PSUK (Police Sport) cross country championships in Cotswold Water Park. A flat but muddy 6.8mile course. Aidan finished 102nd out of 156 men in a time of 52:32.
HARE AND TORTOISE
The Brightlingsea Challenge marathon and 6hr timed, 10km and half marathon event took place on Sunday. The undulating but predominantly flat, traffic-free looped trail course, gave runners the opportunity to run a marathon or as many or as few laps as they wished within the time limit of 6 hours. One lap was needed for 10k, two laps for a half marathon and four laps to cover full marathon distance. The cold, windy weather improved as the morning went on but the mud was relentless and conditions underfoot were slippery after the recent wet weather, making it a tough run.
John Warne took on one loop with his daughter Sarah. This was Sarah’s first run in a while so they took it steady finishing in 1:23.07. Neil Addington gave an impressive performance finishing on three laps which equated to 20 miles in a time of 4:08.13. Fantastic running! Keely Jordan was back out enjoying the mud and the trails. Never failing to impress, she completed four laps, marathon distance in a superb time of 3:46.00 finishing in 1st place overall. Absolutely brilliant Keely.
TWIN LAKES 20
The TWIN LAKES 20 is an incredibly scenic, superfast, and traffic-free race through the stunning Milton Keynes countryside. Lapping two beautiful lakes, following the picturesque River Ouzel and the Grand Union canal. The course is multi-terrain taking in cycle paths, some gravel paths and the remainder on the canal towpath. Aidan Kelly was on his second race of the week using the 20 miler as part of his ongoing training for Manchester Marathon. He fought cramp for the last 5 miles but pushed on to finish strong in 3:02.27. Looking forward to seeing what Manchester brings for Aidan.
Well done to all.
