Some long miles being ran by many HRR at the moment. With lots training for spring marathons and half marathons and a few taking on some longer challenges this weekend.
MALTA HALF MARATHON
The Malta half Marathon takes place on a tiny Mediterranean island that is only 17 miles long and 9 miles wide. It is a predominantly downhill course with a drop of 200 meters from start to finish.
Caroliena Cameron took the British weather with her when she took part in this race on Sunday. Running in heavy rain, she had a brilliant race finishing in 1:50.22.
THE ST PETERS WAY ULTRA
The St Peter’s Way is 42 miles of footpath through the Essex countryside, from Chipping Ongar to the chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall at Bradwell on Sea. The route is a mixture of muddy trails, fields and rural tracks and roads with the final section being on raised sea wall.
The recent wet weather made for extremely wet and challenging conditions underfoot.
HRR’s Nathan Roulson was feeling strong and leading from the start. After a fantastic run he finished 1st place in 5:57.
Neil Addington also tackled the tough ultra challenge but unfortunately had to stop at 17 miles. Still a great effort in tricky conditions and 17 miles banked. Well done Neil.
SMUGGLERS TRAIL
Organised by Essex Trail events, this is a self navigation trail race in Hockley, using a written route description with a choice of 6.3 miles or 9.5 miles. HRR had three roadrunners taking part in the 9.5 mile race. Once again wet and muddy conditions underfoot made it a tougher run.
Keely Jordan finished joint 2nd and 1st lady in 1:20.05.
Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries ran together finishing in 1:41.55.
Well done to all.
