We’ve already missed a number of races in recent weeks, not least our own marathon, so it would be good to have a Summer Handicap series of sorts. We obviously can’t congregate together and all the pubs are closed so this is how it will work….

You have to run the usual distances of 5K (3.1M), 5M and 10K (6.2K) and then send me a screen shot from your smartphone or a photograph of your stopwatch to authenticate the details of time and distance. It’s up to you where you run, you just have to do the required distance so please make sure you don’t stop your watch too early or it won’t count!

Each week for 6 weeks the distance will change. Starting Monday 18th May with 5K then 5M, 10K, 5K, 5M and finally 10K week commencing 22nd June so you have two opportunities to record a time at each distance, just like a normal Summer Handicap series. However, you can run the distance every day if you want, just send me details of your best performance each week. It also means that those of you who like to run with one of your children can send me one time for your individual performance and another one from a different day where you ran with one of your children and I will record both. All results to me by Sunday evening latest or they don’t count.

This won’t be recorded as an official series in HRR club records, it’s just a bit of fun during difficult times but I will circulate the results each week for all to see. If you want to beat previous year’s times, I have attached details from the last three years for your information.

Enjoy your running and stay safe.
