It’s been a while since we’ve had any significant results to report so we’re making up for it this week.
The SVP 100 has been on the ultra running circuit for a few years now and due to its popularity this year offered a 50k option for the first time. The 50k started in Sudbury and then followed the Stour Valley Path to Manningtree. Halstead’s Vice Chairman Bob Langley finished an impressive 17th overall in 5:28:50 and first MV60.
Up on the coast it was the Great Yarmouth Half Marathon which saw Trevor Sibley finish in 1:43. Phil Jeffries, enjoying a family holiday, knocked a further 8 minutes off his previous personal best crossing the line in 1:56. Phil is in fantastic form and has improved on his half marathon time by 16 minutes in total since the beginning of the year.
Steve May and Simon Humphrey did the Run for Wildlife trail organised by Colchester Harriers with all proceeds going to the Essex Wildlife Trust. The 11.5 mile mixed terrain route started and finished from the Ale House in Colchester going through Fingeringhoe and Wivenhoe. Steve and Simon finished in approximately 1:50.
