Essex 20

Bob Langley took 1st place in his V60 age group in Sundays Essex 20 Championship race.  Bob made light work of the 20 mile course to finish in 2:25:37.  Neil Wilson put in an equally good performance to finish in a remarkable 66th place in 2:15:03. Finally Nicole Smith took 10 minutes from her previous best time finishing in 3:09:00.

Mill Hill Marathon

Dan Smith made his return after a 6 week lay off with injury in Sundays Mill Hill Marathon, taking 43rd place with a time of 5:37

Tarpley 20

Last Sunday saw 4 Halstead Road Runners take on the Tarpley 20. The event used as a warm up for the forthcoming road marathon season saw all 4 post impressive times. Jon Buist the pick of the bunch, taking a huge 21 minutes off of his previous best time over the distance.

Andy Owen – 2.27.34 (first race at this distance)
Juan De Gea – 2.27.59 (also first race at this distance).

53-12 Cross Country Catch Up

The 5th race of the 53-12 Cross Country series was hosted by Springfield Striders at Writtle on Sunday 14th February.  Cold conditions made a challenging 5.3 mile course all the more challenging. In the ladies race, in-form Mel Candler recorded her best finish of the season to claim 15th place.  Halstead ladies finished 3rd in Pool B. Halstead’s men enjoyed a interclub battle, with Nathan Roulson piping Stuart Prestney in 43rd and 44th respectively. The first four recorded an excellent team score, placing them 2nd in Pool B.

The final race in the series was held on Sunday 29th February at Ipswich. Halsteads team, like many others on the day was weakened by other races. In the mens race Nathan Roulson once again was first home having another great race. While Mel Candler was first home again for the ladies team.  The great results mean that Halstead finished 3rd in the Mens league and 2nd in the ladies, combined to finish 2nd overall in Pool B.
