HRR Men’s Captain Matt Biggin capped off his racing season this past weekend at the challenging Winter Wanderlust 50k. The event, organised by Embrace Ultra, sent runners on a scenic tour along a historic section of the North Downs Way through Kent.
The race drew a wonderfully mixed field, from determined newcomers stepping up to their first ultra to seasoned veterans of the long trail. Conditions proved favourable for late autumn, with the heaviest rain thankfully holding off until the final hour. The gloriously muddy underfoot and several significant climbs, however, ensured a proper challenge throughout.
Navigating the demanding course with steady determination, Matt crossed the finish line in a time of 6 hours and 22 minutes. The event provided a fitting finale to a great year full of adventures on the trails, and he is already looking ahead to the challenges of next season.
