Another sunshine filled weekend encouraged HRR to get out and about…..
FRIDAY NIGHT 5
The Springfield striders Friday night 5 mile was an Essex Championship Race. A 2 lap course on quiet country lanes around the beautiful Essex Village of Pleshey, near Chelmsford. Tom Puncher was first home for Halstead in a brilliant time of 28:44. Mike Smith ran a superb race crossing the line in 29.50, his first sub 30 minute 5 mile and a 54 second PB. Mike was over the moon to achieve his sub 30 goal. Vikki Suet was our first lady home in an incredible 31:14 and was 5th lady overall. Next to cross the line was Stephen Metson with a new PB of 31:20. Karen Pickering was our second lady home in a time of 32:20 taking 1st place and a gold medal for her age group. In only her second race for Halstead, Hayley Lamkin had another great run finishing in 33:06. Tracy English was very close behind coming 2nd lady in her age category crossing the line in 33:24. Simon king (second claim to Halstead) finished in 39:48. Racing well and finishing with the same time of 40:27 were Mandy Humm and Charlotte king. Not far behind them were Joby Humm in 41:12 and Noush Springett in 41:37. Jody Smith finished in 46:30 and Jenny Smith, who suffered a wasp sting behind the ear while out on the course completed the HRR line up in 47:42. Our first three ladies home, took the 2nd place ladies TEAM silver medal. A big well done to Vikki, Karen and Hayley. Fantastic running.
PARKRUN TOURISTS
HRR were on tour this weekend at various park runs around the country. Phil and Treena were enjoying the sunshine at Gorleston, Katie Martin was flying the flag in lymington in the New Forest and in Bury st Edmunds, Hannah Whale, son Felix Whale, Ross Kemble and Darren Powell were enjoying a new course.
5K SWIM
It’s not only running that HRR enjoy, we have some swim enthusiasts amongst us too. On Sunday Neil Addington took part in the swim long, open water challenge at the spectacular, flat, and smooth-surfaced Dorney Lake near Windsor. The perfect weather for a swim in the lake, Neil swam really well, finding the last 1k tough going, but still he completed it. Massive well done to him.
