Another warm weekend for those taking on races. HRR had an impressive 17 roadrunners out on the trails this weekend.

COMPANY of RUNNERS
STOUR VALLEY HALF AND FULL MARATHON
A trail course following the highways, byways, trails and tracks around the Stour Valley using the Stour Valley Path, St Edmunds Way and the Essex Way. HRR had a team of 10 tackling the tough but pretty course. Conditions were good but there were some challenging overgrown sections.

Three of our long distance lovers took on the marathon distance. Keely Jordan was not only first home for Halstead but was also 1st Lady home and 12th overall out of 90 runners. She finished in an impressive 4:18.57 and was ladies champion by an awe inspiring 27 minutes. Darren Powell had a good run settling into a gentle pace and walking hills to save energy. He did the original route in 2019 just beating the 7hr cut-off. This time he was pleased to finish in 47th place in 5:54.13. Our very own marathon legend, Andy Wilmot was running his 832nd marathon. Andy finished in 6:47.16 in 69th place overall.

HALF MARATHON
The rest of the team went out to enjoy the run and the scenery. The warm conditions and difficult trails underfoot made for a tougher run but the group enjoyed it. Crossing the line first for Halstead was Steve Fellowes in 2:12.53. Next over the line was men’s captain Perry James in 2:22.11. It was Mandy Humm’s first trail in a very long time and she was pleased to finish in 2:22.29 and was 5th lady home. Tom Pease took a tumble during the race but continued on to finish in 2:22.39. It was the perfect temperature for Caroliena Cameron and she crossed the line in 2:24.19 taking 8th place for the ladies. Also having a little stumble mid way through, Ross Kemble enjoyed the race finishing in 2:28.26. Megan Hollinshead took a wrong turn and went a little further than she needed but enjoyed it and completed it in 3:13.30.

STEEPLE BUMPSTEAD 10k
7 roadrunners took on this hot and humid 10k on Sunday. A multi-terrain event run mostly on grassy tracks, footpaths and private roads. It takes in the stunning Elizabethan Manor House of Moyns Park and the picturesque village of Birdbrook. Steve May running with a knee injury was first to finish for halstead in a very impressive 44 minutes. Rachael Roughan was on top form finishing in 47 minutes, taking 1st lady position and a well deserved trophy at the end.
Next to cross the line was Caroliena Cameron. It was double bubble for caroliena this weekend after having run the stour valley half on Saturday. She finished strong in 55 minutes. Running her first trail race was Bec Gilroy, loving being part of the team she crossed the line in 58.10. Dan Roughan is running really well at the moment, he put in a solid effort finishing in 58:30. Val Kerrison had an enjoyable run in 1:10 and Katie Martin completed the HRR line up and was pleased with her time of 1:16.

Great running from Team HRR!!
