While some opted for a trail run this weekend, two of our multi sport loving members took on the challenge of a triathlon!
GOSFIELD TRIATHLON
The Gosfield Lake Triathlon & Multisport Event promoted by Born2Tri, was based at the beautiful Gosfield Lake resort. Organisers offered Middle, Sprint & Standard Distance Triathlon, Aquabike & Aquathlon and Duathlon. Katie Martin took on her first ever open water sprint triathlon which comprised of a 750m swim, 20km on the bike and a 5km run. Katie absolutely loved the experience finishing in 1:55.18. She’s looking forward to trying the standard distance next time. Well done Katie. Hayley Lamkin entered the Standard Triathlon comprising of a 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run. She finished 2nd Lady with the fastest swim and run in an incredible 2:39.51. Massive well done Hayley.
ICKWORTH 10k
HRR had Sandy Maloy over at Ickworth on Sunday. The race was a single lap, traffic free 10K route that started in front of the classical rotunda and followed the Ickworth Monument multi-use trail through the parkland and woodland of the National Trust estate. Hilly and hot, Sandy enjoyed the race finishing in 1:05.14.
WICKHAM TRAIL EVENT
Closer to home was the 9.2 mile Wickham trail, hosted by Essex trail events. Keely Jordan finished in 7th place overall and was 1st lady home in 1:20.55. Settling some unfinished business with the trails of Wickham St Paul (a funny story) Perry James enjoyed the route and was pleased to finish without getting lost in 1:28.54. It was Andy Carter’s longest run in a year and he finished well in 1:30.52. Ed Fairhurst completed it in 1:42.29. Lorraine Garnham and Wendy Carter ran together with former HRR member, Nicole smith (now a Newmarket jogger). They finished in 1:44.24. Dan and Meg Hollinshead also ran together completing the trail in 1:53.39.
Another successful weekend for HRR.
