We saw yet more inspirational running this weekend.
13 VALLEYS ULTRA
HRR had two of our endurance loving athletes at the 13 valleys ultra at the weekend. This was an epic ultra-marathon event in the stunning landscape of the Lake District National Park. There were three ultra distances available to take on- 55km, 110km, and 180km – each with spectacular trail and mountain running over the fells, around the magnificent lakes and waters, and through the valleys of the Lake District National Park. Keely Jordan took on the immense 180km challenge and Nathan Roulson the 110km challenge.  Conditions under foot were tough, after heavy rain for weeks, most footpaths  were running water on top of mud and loose stones. With strong gusts forecast for Saturday night, the course was changed mid way through and the original route replaced with a more sheltered one. Both Keely and Nathan faced difficult races but ran so well. Keely finished the 180km race in 20th place overall and was 3rd lady, in a fantastic time of 42 hours, 39 minutes. Nathan completed his 110km race in a brilliant time of 22 hours, 29 minutes and finished in 106th place overall.  nspiring running from both!
HYDE PARK 10k
Aidan Kelly was running for the Met police athletics team on Saturday at the Hyde park 10k race. A flat course with only a slight hill, it’s known for its PB potential. Aidan had a great race finishing in 48:03.
SOUTHEND 10k
Run mainly along Southend seafront this 10k race is part of the Essex Champs series. We had 5 ladies representing  HRR on Sunday. First to cross the line for Halstead and finishing 8th lady was Hayley Lamkin in 39:23. Karen Pickering finished next in 41:09. Coming back from injury, Vikki Suett crossed the line in 43:00. Using it as a training run, Tracy English was very close behind in 43:02. Noush Springett had an amazing race knocking 4 minutes off her previous PB and getting a new PB of 49:48. Our first 3 ladies to finish also took 2nd place ladies team, getting themselves a shiny new silver medal! Well done Hayley, Karen and Vikki.
