With the sun shining at the weekend and temperatures not too hot it was perfect running weather.

REBELLION
John Warne was at the University of Essex on Saturday taking part in the Hare and Tortoise ‘Rebellion’. It was a 6 hour timed event where participants could run as many or as few 5k (or just over 5k) loops as they wished. Using it as a training run, John completed 3 laps, 10 miles in 1:45:29.

MALDON HALF MARATHON
Maryann sycamore took on Maldon half marathon on Sunday. An undulating half marathon on rural roads with a few hilly sections. Maryann had an enjoyable run finishing in 2:11.34.

VITALITY 10k
We had three roadrunners in London at the Vitality 10k on Sunday. It’s a huge event with around 15,000 taking part. Starting on The Mall and going out through Trafalgar Square the route passes some of the capital’s most famous landmarks, before finishing in front of Buckingham Palace. Ben Ryder had a superb race finishing with a 58 second PB in 35:57 and placing an incredible 162nd place overall. Sam Wolton also had a brilliant run finishing in 43:18. Enjoying his first time at the event, Aidan Kelly finished in 49:39.

CASTLE ON THE HILL
Trail lovers were able to choose between a 9 or a 6 mile route at this self navigating trail event on Sunday starting and finishing at ‘The Green man’, Toppesfield. Caroliena took on the 9 mile challenge finishing 2nd lady in 1:25.31. Meanwhile running the 6 mile route Keely Jordan finished 1st place overall in 55:52. Wendy and Andy Carter ran it together and finished in joint 3rd place in 1:04.18.

IRONMAN 70.3 WEYMOUTH
Taking place last weekend was the Ironman 70.3 Weymouth. Situated off the World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast the race incorporated sandy beaches, spectacular coastline and the stunning Dorset countryside.
Not for the faint hearted, the triathlon comprised of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run.
Suffering with a knee injury and not being able to train as much as she would have liked, HRR’s Vikki Suett took it on regardless. Unfortunately due to bad weather the swim was cancelled. Despite the tough conditions, Vikki had a great cycle ride finishing that section in 3:27 and then went on to complete the run in a very impressive 1:41. Vikki’s overall time was 5:13.57. Absolutely brilliant Vikki!

Well done to all!
