It’s been a weekend of running for HRR. After the fantastic turnout at Saturdays XCountry relays we then had a great turnout for Steve’s Stambourne trail run on Sunday. As if that wasn’t enough we then had a few more out and about trying new things.
PARKRUN MILESTONE
Chris Arter was down in Exeter on his holidays and ran his first Parkrun as a Parkrun tourist, flying the flag for HRR in his yellow vest.
SWIM THE SERPENTINE
Meanwhile on Saturday, Jody Smith was in London taking on a very different challenge. Having already run London marathon and cycled Ride London 100, Jody only had one more London Classic event to get under her belt. To swim the Serpentine within the beautiful grounds of Hyde Park. The perfect weather for a dip in the lake, Jody took on the two-mile challenge where she swam two full laps of the Serpentine lake. She completed the swim in 1 hour 18 minutes and got awarded two medals, her swim the Serpentine medal and the London Classics medal. A very big well done Jody.
IPSWICH HALF MARATHON
Glynn Stone ran the Ipswich half marathon with his daughter on Sunday. Starting and finishing at Portman Road Stadium – home to Ipswich Town FC, the route took runners around the River Orwell. Glynn finished in 2:11.30.
PORTO HALF
Caroliena Cameron went a little further afield heading to Porto in Portugal to take part in a half marathon. Whilst the sun shone in Halstead that wasn’t the case in Portugal. Caroliena battled torrential rain and gale force winds but loved it none the less. She finished still under two hours in 1:59.16. Big well done Caroliena.
THAXTED TRAIL MARATHON
Tracy English and Keely Jordan were at Thaxted trail marathon on Sunday, a self navigating race following a written route description. Not out to race but keeping the miles in their legs and enjoying the scenery they had a terrific run still finishing 2nd and 3rd ladies. Fantastic running and great photos!!
