Yet another great weekend of running for HRR, with the first Xcountry race on Saturday and an array of races on Sunday.
AMSTERDAM MARATHON
The 47th edition of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon took place on Sunday. Ben Ryder was there representing HRR with thousands of other runners taking part in the international marathon, known for its fast and attractive course with start and finish in the Olympic Stadium.
Ben has been training exceptionally hard over the last few months and with good race conditions Ben had a tremendous race. The tough training regime was all worth it when Ben crossed the line in 2:51.51 with a huge PB of 11 minutes 43 seconds. A superb run and very well deserved result.
CHELMSFORD MARATHON and HALF MARATHON
Attracting over 1,500 participants this is a major fundraising event for Havens Hospices. The Marathon is a single lap course on road and tarmac paths. Starting at Shire Hall in the city centre and finishing in Central Park, the scenic rural route takes participants out through the city and through beautiful countryside. The Half Marathon is an out and back course with stunning views and a flatter course than the full marathon. Neil Addington was there running marathon 106, after only completing number 105 last weekend. Neil had a much better race this week, feeling stronger he finished in 5:27 which was 50 minutes faster than last weekend. Great running Neil.
We also had 4 roadrunners taking on the half marathon distance. Ben Brown had a brilliant race and was first to cross the line for Halstead in 1:29.02 which was a 4 minute PB. He came 38th out of 780 men and 4th in his age category. James North also had a great run finishing in 1:32.51, 56th out of 780 men and 8th in his age category. Caroliena Cameron having run the very tough and hilly Xcountry race the day before had a superb run, finishing 7 minutes faster than her last half marathon in 1:52.51. She was 47th out of 289 ladies and 5th in her age category. Maryann Sycamore is getting closer and closer to her goal of a sub 2 hour half marathon. Maryann finished in 2:02.58.
OXFORD HALF MARATHON
The Oxford Half Marathon is a flat and fast route through historic Oxford. Katie Martin was there running for HRR, she enjoyed the beautiful course and finished in 2:49.01.
RIBBON RUN
Aidan Kelly and family ran a 10k as a team in support of SANDS, a charity that supports families coping with the loss of a baby. They ran to remember baby Louie. A fantastic cause. Well done Team Kelly.
