The hills of the 30th Halstead Marathon provided another tough test for our runners, with the club well represented. There were marathon debuts, PBs and plenty of determined performances on a demanding course.
Leading the club home was James North in 3:14:27. After his strong run at the Boston UK Marathon back in April, James followed it up with another solid performance at Halstead.
Luis Betancourt Canas had an excellent marathon debut in 3:19:29. Taking on the challenging course for his first attempt at the distance, Luis paced the race well and finished strongly.
Another successful debut came from Luke Allen, who crossed the line in 3:26:32 in both his first marathon and first outing in club colours.
A standout performance from Nina Symington-Smith as she continued her good form with a PB of 3:36:25. Nina ran impressively throughout thoroughly enjoying the race and finishing with a County silver age group medal.
Another impressive performance also came from Laurence Gowers, who finished in 3:46:50, 24 minutes quicker than his run at Halstead last year.
There was a strong run from Rachael Roughan and Noush Springett, who finished together in 4:09:01. Just two weeks after London Marathon, Rachael returned to support Noush, who has been managing injury issues over recent months. Enjoying it and with plenty of smiles throughout, Noush finished with a 5 minute marathon PB.
