FRIDAY NIGHT 5
Laurence Gowers kicked off the Friday Night 5 series at Kirton on Friday evening. Still carrying some tired legs from the Halstead Marathon, Laurence produced another strong run, finishing in 37:10, just shy of last year’s time. A solid start to the series and a great effort so soon after marathon racing.
TOPPESFIELD 10 MILE
Sunday saw the Essex Trail Events Toppesfield 10 Mile take place, with Steve May, Neil Poulter, Paul Hinsley and Wayne Cook all taking part.
The self-navigated trail run started from The Green Man in Toppesfield, heading out through the trails towards Stambourne and Birdbrook before returning. With temperatures already exceptionally hot by the morning, the group sensibly treated it as a relaxed and social run, enjoying the beautiful conditions and good company rather than chasing fast times.
