It’s been another busy week for HRR, with our runners taking on everything from evening 10Ks and marathon challenges to parkrun milestones and first races. There were some fantastic performances, PBs and plenty of reasons to celebrate. Well done to everyone who pulled on an HRR vest this week!
CHASE THE SUN AT BATTERSEA
Aidan Kelly headed to London on Wednesday evening for the Chase the Sun Battersea 10K. With the temperatures still high, it was a tough evening for racing, but Aidan dug in well to finish in 48:21. A great run in challenging conditions. Well done, Aidan!
GREAT BARROW CHALLENGE
Andy Wilmot added another two marathons to his incredible tally as he continued the Great Barrow Challenge.
Wednesday’s marathon was made up of four out-and-back sections, which he completed in 6:24.
He was back again on Saturday, finishing his second marathon of the week in 5:56.
That now brings Andy’s marathon total to an astonishing 877. What an incredible achievement!
PARKRUN
There was plenty to celebrate at Markshall park run on Saturday.
Laurence Gowers had a brilliant run, setting a new PB of 20:06. He finished 7th overall and was 1st in the VM50-54 age category. A fantastic performance and the perfect confidence boost ahead of his 5K race in Colchester on Friday evening. Good luck, Laurence!
Congratulations also go to Treena Carder, who celebrated a fantastic milestone by completing her 100th park run at MarksHall. Well done, Treena!
DARLINGTON 10K
Lois Watson took on her first official 10K race at Darlington, and what a performance it was.
Lois joined HRR through the Couch to 5K programme back in January and has come on so much in such a short space of time. Although she was feeling nervous before the start, she went out and absolutely smashed it, finishing in 1:05:54.
A brilliant achievement and hopefully the first of many races. Well done, Lois!
