CAMUL10kUNUM TRAIL
The Camuplodunum was conceived in 1974 as a 25-mile walk encircling the town of Colchester. Company of runners decided to host it as a Camuplodunum Marathon route and decided to also stage a supplementary 10k race that same day. This followed the first three miles of the marathon route, then circled round and returned so nearly an out and back course. It took in a little of the Essex Way, passed through beautiful woods and scenery and was mostly a trail route. After the dreadful wet weather runners were prepared for ALOT of mud on Saturday. Treena carder was our only roadrunner taking on the wet, muddy race and with a fair few hills thrown in conditions were tough. She did however, cross the line still smiling and was 7th lady in a time of 1:16.21. Great running Treena!
WINDSOR 50k ULTRA MARATHON
From Windsor Racecourse base camp 1800 adventurers headed out on Saturday to take on the 50k ultra. With the choice of walking or running participants followed looped routes through the Great Park with fantastic views of the Castle, on to Runnymede, along the Thames Path, and took in some wonderful countryside on the way. Conditions underfoot were challenging with flooded paths and almost ankle deep mud in places. Roadrunner Emma Healy took on the walking challenge with three friends. The ladies had a great day, enjoying it and finishing with an active time of 8 hours 12 minutes. Emma also finished content with the knowledge that she’d never, ever, EVER want to RUN a marathon let alone an ultra 🤪!!
ST CLARE HOSPICE 10k
The weather had finally brightened up a bit by Sunday and husband and wife team Charlotte and Simon King were making the most of it when they took part in the St clare hospice 10k at Hastingwood . A very well organised race, in good weather conditions and a relatively flat course. The race finished within the hospice grounds with music, bbq refreshments, sports massages and a BIG BEAR hug. The perfect end to a race! Simon finished in 51:03 and Charlotte in 52:57. Both thoroughly enjoyed running and it had the added bonus of being in aid of a very worthy cause.
Well done to all!
