The bank holiday saw lots of HRR headed out to race on both roads and trails. The weather was kind and there are some great shots of the runners in action …. Well done and thank you to all the photographers!
NICE HALF MARATHON
Caroliena Cameron headed over to the South of France this weekend, to take part in her very first international event, ‘Nice half marathon’. A flat, scenic, out and back route and with the rain making conditions cooler but not cold, it was the perfect weather for a race! Caroliena reported a brilliantly organised race with a fantastic atmosphere, so anyone looking for an international event might want to give this one a look. Having recently been suffering with injury, and worried that it might not happen, Caroliena ran a fantastic race and finished in 1:57.19. Well done Caroliena!
RUN LAYER 5
Lisa Clarke ran the ‘Run Layer 5’ event on Sunday, hosted by Craig’s events. A 5 mile, out and back, multi-terrain race in beautiful Layer de la Haye. A great run from Lisa who finished in 43:56.
COMPANY OF RUNNERS
The Big Bear Cider run is a self navigating six mile course through woods and muddy paths around the beautiful Essex countryside. A circular route starting and finishing at the Big Bear Cider Mill. We had 5 roadrunners taking on the challenge on Monday. Keely Jordan was back on the trails, she finished 2nd lady and 10th overall in 49:42. Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries ran together crossing the line in 1:02 with Treena taking 3rd place for the ladies. Penny Clarke finished in 1:15.37 and Wendy Carter, walked it with a friend in 1:33.58.
ASHDON 10k
Val Kerrison ran the Ashdon 10k on Monday morning, a mainly off road and very challenging route. Val finished with a chip time of 1.09.12.
WITHAM MAY DAY 10.
Described as a fast, undulating, rural all road course, the Witham May Day 10 took place on bank holiday Monday and HRR had 6 runners there. First over the line for Halstead was Ben Ryder in 1:04.08. A fantastic time and his first ever race at this distance! Rachel Rising finished first lady overall crossing the line in 1:04.40. An incredible time. Mike Smith had a tough run, not feeling 100% he treated it as a (pretty impressive) training run in the sun. It was technically a PB as he hadn’t raced a 10miler for 5 years. Mike finished in 1:10.35. Simon Hillyard ran well in 1:21.20. Samantha Hillyard enjoying it but finding it tough finished in 1:28.29. John Warne enjoyed the race and was using it as a training run for Halstead marathon. He finished in 1:32.02.
Another great weekend of running
