HRR are an all round active lot and it was a weekend that included more than just running for some of our members.
OLYMPIC PARK 10K
Amy and Jordan Palmer have definitely caught the running bug. They headed to The Queen Elizabeth Olympic park on Saturday to take part in the 10k event. The hot weather made it a tough run but they ran together finishing in 1:07.
DUNWICH DYNAMO
The Dynwich Dynamo is a 112 mile unsupported overnight ride from London to Dunwich in Suffolk. Starting from Pub on the Park in Hackney, London, the ride weaves its way through London before heading out to Dunwich. Riders cycle through the night with the aim of arriving on Dunwich beach early Sunday morning, to watch the sun rise if they make it in time. It’s always held on the July Saturday nearest the full moon. Andy Carter cycled it with Don English, ex HRR Chairman John Markham and ex member Wayne Kern. Only John had done it before. They left Hackney at 7:15 and arrived 112 miles later at Dunwich beach at 4:20am. They recorded a total moving time of 7 hours 30 minutes. Jo Roulson completed the challenge with a friend. She loved the experience and made sunrise with 5 minutes to spare. She recorded a moving time of 8 hours 30 minutes.
FELIXSTOWE TRIATHLON
HRR had three members trying their hand at a triathlon on Sunday. The first triathlon for all of them, after some pre race nerves they agreed it was a great experience. Starting with a 300m pool swim, they then cycled 20.5k before running 3k. Emma Healy finished in 1:11.25 , Victoria Metson in 1:15.49 and Jody Smith finished in 1:34.41.
Well done to everyone.
