A weekend of sunshine made for warm races.
MARATHON MAN
Andy wilmot kick started the weekend with marathon number 846 at Zigzag running. It was a trail route and Andy ran/ walked it in 5:30.
IPSWICH TWILIGHT 10k
Gary Wiles joined the club in January as part of the C25k program. He has certainly caught the running bug and ran his first race in club colours on Friday night at the Ipswich 10k. He loved the buzz of the race and crossed the line in 1:01.53.
MEC TRAILS
Three HRR took on the MEC trail race, Swan L or R in Rayne, on Sunday.
Caroliena Cameron ran the 7.1 mile route in 1:15.37.
Treena Carder and Phil Jeffries opted for the shorter 4.5 mile route and finished joint 1st place in 0:57.58.
HARE & TORTOISE FINISH LINE FROLIC
John Warne took part in the the Finish Line Frolic half marathon on Sunday. All for a good cause, the Finish Line is a charity that donates to various causes across Essex. The race took place in Hockley and was an undulating trail route consisting of just over 5k laps, John had to complete 4 laps for a half. A very warm day meant a lot of walking up the hills and John took a bit of a tumble on lap 2. He finished with a sore elbow and a smile in 2:55.
UK POLICE UNITY TOUR
Aidan Kelly took on a challenge of a different kind over the weekend.
He completed 3 days cycling with 50 Met police cyclists as part of a national team of 500 officers. They covered just under 180 miles, travelling from London to the National Arboretum in Staffordshire for the annual ‘Care of Police Survivors service of remembrance’. Riding for a charity close to his heart ‘Care of police survivors’ it was a rewarding experience.
